Lehigh Valley Hospital – October 2005

Miracle

As I lay in the Oncology ward of Lehigh Hospital in Allentown, Pa. unable to hold down any food or water for four weeks now due to my pancreas shutting down. I have accepted the fact that I may never leave this Hospital alive, and while my children were unable to visit because they were so far away, I felt a level of peace that was actually overwhelming. Not realizing it at the time but, certainly feeling as if I was not alone anymore. I spent every other day with the visiting Catholic Priest, praying for forgiveness and for the chance to see my children just one more time. The Nurses would require me drink a little glass of water every other day, to see if I could hold it down. Then without any rhyme or reason I was able to hold down my water, Later that day I tried to eat a piece of toast, and that stayed down too. I decided that if I truly was cured then my life was in God’s hands and I would live my life always looking for signs as how God wanted me to live. Two days later I was eating all three meals and feeling better. The third day after holding down my food, I was discharged. As I was leaving the fifth floor Oncology Ward the Nurse said to me, she rarely sees anyone walk off of this floor fully recovered. To me this was sign that a Miracle was granted, maybe even divine intervention. Either way, my life will never be the same. Now I am always recognizing the subtle signs that God gives us, and since I have followed those signs my life has improved ten fold.
